In India, there are many different communities in Hindu religion and have different dates for New Year in a Hindu calendar year. 
 
We have mentioned some Hindu New Year dates in 2016 which is given below. The various communities that are part of Hinduism follow their independent calendars and the New Year Day of a particular Hindu community in these calendars are based on seasons and the agricultural economy of the region.

Nav Varsh Samvat, Vikram Samvat or Hindi New Year –  April 8th, 2016  – This New Year is celebrated in major states in North India and it is also known as Chaitra Sukhladi. Vikram Samvat 2073 begins.
 
Cheti Chand –  April 9th, 2016  – The New Year day of Sindhis.
