It is described that there are three aspects of the Supreme that must...
, who played this festival in his childhood with gopis. Holika Dahan is a day before holi, and performed  during pradosh kaal that starts after the sunset while the purnimasi tithi is prevailing. Holika Dahan is on 23rd March 2016, the timings of Holika Dahan 2016 is 18:32 to 20:50 (evening).

The reason for celebrating the holi festival is associated with Holika Dahan. It is a traditional festival which celebrates the holika  death and prahlad safety by organising the ceremony known as the holika Dahan. There are various mythological explanations in the historical books which explains the reasons behind the death of Holika and celebration of holi.

According to the legend, King hiranyakashyap believed himself above all as supreme power infact more than God. He wanted people to worship  him like God and believe only him as God. However his own son prahlad refuse to pray him God. And prahlad use worship lord VishnuVishnuVishnu
Vishnu is one of the Supreme Gods of Hindus and is a part of Hindu Trinity,..
. Hiranyakashyap was very angry on prahlad and decides to kill his own son. For this purpose he chooses his sister holika to sit along  prahlad in fire. Holika was booned by Lord BrahmaBrahmaBrahma
According to Hinduism, the whole creation is the work of Trimurti (the Hindu Trinity)...
for never being harmed by the fire with special fire protection. And thus she was ordered by her brother to sit in the fire with prahlad. As soon as the  fire was roared, the special protective garment of Holika flown away to cover the prahlad. And in this way prahlad was saved and holika was burnt and died forever.

People follow this legendary story and celebrate holi as two day festival. First holika Dahan or holika on this day the fire burnt symbolises the victory of good over evil. The second day is the day of colours also known as Dulendi. This day is also referred as the spring  festival of India. Holi is mostly celebrated by Hindus but nowadays it  is widely celebrated by other religion across the world. This festival promotes the message of brotherhood, friendship, equality and bring joy in life of people. Holi is very famous and beautiful festival bring happiness and spread colours of love and togetherness.
