Nariyal Purnima is the day of Fishman, who typically dependent on the ocean for their life. According to the traditional Hindu Calendar, the auspicious eve of the full-moon day in the pious month of Shravan is chosen as the day to celebrate it along Mumbai's coastline, Juhu Beach, Maharashtra.
 
During the day of Nariyal Purnima, males and females of the Koli community offer a bowl of coconut rice to the God Sea, Lord Varuna. It is believed that in Hindu epic Ramayana,he held aloft the bridge that helped Lord RamaRamaRama

The fishermen celebrate this festival by decorating their boats and putting flags on them, painting their boats and designing the coconuts and taking them to the sea to offer the God Varuna with prayers for  protecting them from all the risks and allowing them to sail safely.
At this time, the community gathering by singing and dancing in groups.
 
As a coconut has three eyes, it is believed that it symbolize Lord ShivaShivaShiva
Shiva is one of the Supreme Gods of Hindu Trinity that ...
and this is why it is considered an auspicious offering to the holy deity.  The pieces of the broken coconut are given as Prasad It is the sacred food that is distributed after an auspicious event or day after offering it to the Godsand the specialty of this festival is coconut rice. They also believe that this is the new trading time for their boat to start the new fishing season. Nariyal Purnima coincides with the festival of Raksha Bandhan which is celebrated mainly in the northern part of India.
