temple in Shirdi of Ahmednagar district and paid homage to Sai Baba on the first day of the 3-day-long 'Guru Poornima' festival.
 
Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust (SSST) Shirdi will be celebrating its yearly three-day Guru Purnima Utsav from July 18 with religious cultural rituals and cultural performances by the  artists. More than 3 lakh devotees are expected to visit Shirdi during the Purnima festival. 
 
The Guru Purnima at the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple begins on the Ashada Shukla Chaturdashi – the 14th day during the waxing phase of the moon. There will be palanquin ride on the day. The most important festival is held on the full moon day and includes ratha or chariot procession.
 
Guru Purnima is the most popular festival celebrated in Shirdi with great enthusiasm and zeal. The festival will be celebrated till July 20.
 
Millions of 'Palkhis' (palanquin) from across the state arrived in Shirdi for the celebration of the Guru Poornima festival in Shirdi.
 
Guru Purnima is one of the four annual festivals celebrated by Shirdi. Devotees across the world regard Sai baba as their Guru. They visit the temple during these three days to offer prayers and seek blessings. 
 
Shirdi also welcomes Parade (processions) from different locations across the country on Guru Purnima. The temple trust has made proper  arrangements for devotees coming in during the rains. Also, trust has provided three villages on Ahmednagar-Shirdi road where temporary tents have been installed for devotees coming in the procession. All shelters are waterproof and comfortable.
 

How to reach Shirdi Sai Baba Temple

 
By Air
 
The nearest airport to Shirdi is the Aurangabad Airport which is 130 kilometers away from Shirdi. The airport is well-connected to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. You can board a taxi or a cab or a bus to reach Shirdi from Aurangabad.
 
By Bus
 
Maharashtra State Transport buses are available from major cities like Nashik, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Pune and Kopargaon to Shirdi. Private air-conditioned buses also ply from various cities of Maharashtra to Shirdi.
 
By Train
 
Kopergaon Railway Station, 16 kilometers away, is the nearest railway station to Shirdi. Kopergaon is well-connected to major cities of India through the rail. State-run buses, cabs, taxis and private buses are available from the station for Shirdi.
 
Road/Self Drive
 
Shirdi lies on the Ahmednagar-Manmad Highway and is well-connected to major cities like Nashik, Mumbai, and Pune by road. A trip to Shirdi in a car is worth trying as you pass through some interesting towns and villages. Shirdi is 75 kilometers from Nasik, 130 kilometers from Aurangabad, 157 kilometers from Pune and 250 kilometers from Mumbai.
