    Shri Gajanan Maharaj Prakat Din Utsav – Appearance Anniversary Festival

     
    Shri Gajanan Maharaj Pragat Din: March 1st 2016.
     
    As per Gregorian calendar, on 23rd February 1878 (7th day of Marathi Month - Magh, Shake 1800) Shri Gajanan Maharaj First appeared in Shegaon. This day is celebrated as 'Shri Prakat Din Utsav'
     
    On this auspicious occasion, various religious rituals are performed in Shree's Mandir, such as - From Magh Vadya Pratipada to Saptami - Maha Rudra Swahakar.
     
    On  First Appearance Day: Yaag Purnahuti and Awabhrut Snan at 10 am.
     
    Pooja Time: Kirtan for Shree Pragat Din Utsav from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon and thus, at 12.00 noon Shree Prakat Din Utsav is celebrated. 
     
    Shri Gajanan Maharaj Prakat Din Utsav is celebrated yearly in the Magh month. It is not only the birth anniversary but also have an appearance anniversary festival of the great saint from Maharashtra, Shree Gajanan Maharaj. On this auspicious occasion, various custom rituals are performed in Shree's Mandir at Shegaon.
     
    Shri Gajanan Maharaj performed miracles during his lifetime. His miracles also made the dominating and egoistic people shed their wrong assumptions. 
     
    Shri Gajanan Maharaj was an Avadhuta (a Sanskrit term). His life was his teachings. Through his activities, he spread his entire life to Bhakti, It refers to devotion and the love one feels for God. People indulge in Bhakti to gain spirituality or salvation love, wisdom and opened the path of self-realization to many.
     
    Shri Gajanan Maharaj took samadhi on September 6, 1910.
     
    Lakhs of devotee arrive regularly at Shegaon to offer prayers and take blessings.
     
    On the Appearance Anniversary day, Awabhrut Snan and Yaag Purnahuti are performed at 10 am and then devotee involved in the kirtan. And other activities like Satsangs, prayers, charity and food contribution are part of this Utsav.

    Paksha Saptami
    tithi or the 7th day of waning phase of moon in Magh month as per custom Hindu lunar calendar followed in Maharashtra.
