Bhai Duj is celebrated after two days of Diwali. This day is commemorated to strengthen the bond between sisters and brothers.

According to Hindu mythological legend, the Sun God was married to a gorgeous princess called Samjna. After nine months, couple was blessed with twins. The twins were named Yama, and Varni, and they grew up together. However, there was the mismatch of the wavelength of their parents. Samjna had taken the hard step and decided to go back to earth. After many years, Yamuna married to a generous prince and was contented in her life but she missed her brother wanted to see him. Yama, too, missed his sister and decided to visit her. Yumuna got the information that her brother would visit her. She decorated her home, prepared her brother's favorite dishes, and prayed for wellbeing of his brother. God Yamraj gave his sister a boon that whosoever would visit her on this day should be liberated from all sins. They would achieve salvation or final liberation.

From then on, brothers visit their sisters on this day to meet them and can get to know their welfare. Brothers vouched on this day they would always there to take care of their sisters and they give money or gift to their sisters as a good omen. Sisters in turn pray for their brother’s well-being, safety, and success in all his future endeavors.
