As this day is associated Gauri and Shiva, thus, many rituals related to them are performed on this day.
In 2015, it will be celebrated on 22nd March, in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Gujarat and many other North Indian states.

Many women keep fast on this day that is also known as Soubhagya Gauri Vrata. They conduct special prayer at their home and invite relatives, neighbors and friends to take part in the prayers. All people gathered there to start their prayers with Ganesh Puja It is a prayer ritual performed to make offerings, honoring, evoking or worshipping gods. In the evening fast observer donates bowl of honey, til (sesame seeds), pure oil, jaggery, salt, and milk along with the money to Hindu priest. Thereafter, the fast observer gives money, fruits, flowers, betel leaves, fruits, flowers, and betel nuts and, betel nuts and to five married women.
