Narka Chaturdarshi- Festival of Cleanliness

Narka Chaturdarshi is the most revered Hindu festival of cleanliness. It is celebrated on the 14th dark fortnight of Hindu month of Kartik that falls in the month (Oct-Nov) according to English Calendar. This Day is also referred as the Narak-Chaturdashi, KaliKali
There are several traditions of how Kali came into existence...
Chaudasi or Chhoti (-small) Diwali.

This festival is referred as the second day of 5-day celebration of Diwali. On this day, people take a special bath with warm water and special paste. They then prayed God KrishnaKrishna
It is described that there are three aspects of the Supreme that must...
and his wife Satyabhama. After that they had  a good breakfast then clear all the clutter in their home, clean it, and decorate it, making Rangoli for the reception of Goddess Laxmi on Diwali. In the evening, many people burn earthen lamps (Diyas) and lighten up their home with decorative lights. In the night, many people burn firecrackers to mark the victory of good over evil. We all should not only clear our house but our soul also by praying and meditating.

The legend behind the celebration of Narka Chaturdarshi

The legend is that there was a demon king Narakasur. He was the ruler of Pragjyotishpur (a province to the South of Nepal) The king was very powerful, first he shown his supremacy on Earth by defeating many kings then he decided to defeat Lord Indra. He overthrew God Indra and had taken away the beautiful earrings of Aditi, (the mother of Indra and a relative of Satyabhama, Lord Krishna's wife). Not only he limited himself there, he imprisoned 16000 daughters of the gods and saints in his Palace prison.

After knowing the facts, SatyabhamaSatyabhama
She is considered to be the incarnation of Mother earth. Satyabhama's father Satrajit owned a divine jewel called syamantaka. Krishna told Satrajit to send the jewel to...
was infuriated by Narakasura's malice towards women. She requested to God Krishna to give her the opportunity to kill Demon Narakasura. The legend also says that Demon Narakasura He was the son of earth Goddess, Bhudevi who became a demon in association with another demon named Banasurahad been given a curse that he would be killed by a woman. Krishna granted the request made by Satyabhama. He had given a boon to Satyabhava that she would have victory over Demon Narakasura. Krishna decided to be the charioteer of Satyabhama. As destined, Satyabhama One of the wives of Krishna who is an incarnation of earth Goddess. She was very strong willed and helped Krishna in defeating a demon named Narakasurahad slayed the demon Narakasura. After the death of Narakasura, the kidnapped women were released, but they said that nobody accepted them when they returned to their home. Krishna accepted to marry them and let them stay with him.

As a symbol of that victory, God Krishna smeared his forehead with the demon Narakasura's blood. God Krishna returned home in the dawn of the Narakachaturdashi day. The queens of Krishna rubbed scented oil to his body and gave him a bath to clean the dirt from his body. Since then the ritual of taking bath before sunrise on this day has become a ritual on Narka Chaturdarshi.
