About 2015 Vaikasi Visakam Date in Meghalaya, India

Vaikasi Visakam is celebrated in the honor of Lord Muruga, the God of war and courage. The day is considered as his birthday or the day when he reincarnated and came on earth to free it from three demon brothers, Soorapadman, Singamuhan, and Tharakasura. Muruga took birth to protect Gods (devas) from dark forces of evil. This day falls on the full moon day (Purnima) in the month of Vaikasi (May-June), according to Tamil calendar. The divine creation took place under Visakam (Visakam is one of the 27 Nakshatras, lunar mansion and it is the birth star of Murugan). The day is also known as Vaigasi Visakam and Vaiskashi Vishakam and is celebrated mainly by the Tamil community.

In 2015, Vaikasi Visakam is commemorated on 1st June 2015

The auspicious time for the prayers is as follows:

5:28 - 07:11
10:36 - 12:19
12:19 - 15:45
17:27 - 19:10

It was the embodiment of her Shakti. The motive of giving this weapon was to end a demon named Soorapadman. The demon got scared and converted himself into a mango tree. Karthikeya then used the vel to split the tree into two and one of them became a rooster and another, a peacock. It is also a symbol of divinity. There is also a festival dedicated to it named Thaipusam in which people celebrate the receiving of Vel by Karthikeya. by his mother, ParvatiParvati
