Yamuna Chhath is also famous as the Yamuna Jayanti. It is commemorated on the sixth day of the waxing phase of the moon that falls during the month of Chaitra (Feb- March).
‘Yamuna’ is considered as one of the sacred rivers of India and ‘Jayaanti’ is the birth anniversary. According to Hindu Mythological story, there is they believe that Yamuna descended on the Earth on this day. Since then it is celebrated as the birth anniversary of the Yamuna every year.
