Bagalamukhi Jayanti is held to be the day when Goddess Baglamukhi appeared on earth. It is celebrated on the Shukla Ashtami or the 8th day during the waxing phase of moon in Vaishakh month. Bagalamukhi Jayanti 2016 date is May 14. Mata Bagalamukhi is a goddess of immense power. Goddess Bagalamukhi is an incarnation of Mother Goddess Shakti and one of the Dasa Mahavidyas.
Mata Baglamukhi appeared to protect Dharma which was challenged by a Demon named Madan. The Goddess defeated him and pulled his tongue. The Ashur then prayed for clemency. Symbolically, this suggests that the greatest menace to Dharma is from unwanted speech.
