Dhanu Yatra 2017 is celebrated for eleven days preceding Pausha Purnima – the full moon day of Pausha (December – January) – as per Hindu traditional Odia Calendar. In 2017, Dhanu Yatra 2017 will be held from January 4 to January 12, 2017.
Dhanu Yatra is an 11-day festival and the festival showed the chronicles of Lord Krishna birth and his childhood Leela, visiting Mathura and the killing of Kansa. Bargarh has turned to Mathura and Ambapalli village and the river Jira which flows in between is river Yamuna.

Dhanu Yatra takes place in the months of December – January. The festival continues for 5 to 11 days after ‘Pausa Purnima’ according to the local calendar. Many devotees and various tourists gathered into this place from different parts of India and abroad.
The railway route connects Sambalpur railway station with other parts of the state and the country. Tourists can take the Government Bus.
Bargarh is placed on NH6 and is around 60 km from Sambalpur and 220 km from Raipur, Chhattisgarh. and 360 km away from Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
