Jayanti, is one of the most famous Tamil festivals dedicated to Hanuman. Hanumath Jayanthi is celebrated on the new moon day during December to January. The festival signifies the jubilation of the birth of Hanuman, one of the most popular and widely worshipped deities of the world. Hanumath Jayanthi is one of the most important festivals of the Hindus and is celebrated with great devotion and passion all over the world.

used to wander around many holy places of the world. He always started to meditate wherever he found a place of beauty and serenity. Once upon a time while he was in Gokarna,he came to know about a ferocious monster named Shambasadana. The monster used to trouble the sages and all people of that place. Everyone was terrified by him and wanted to get rid of him. When Kesari He was a male vanara. He was very strong and courageous. He was also the monkey king. Before he had Hanuman as his son, he used to wander to various holy places and meditate.realized the whole situation, he challenged the monster to a fight. Soon they began fighting and Kesari hit Shabasadana with a mighty fist. They wrestled for a long time and, eventually, Kesari reigned supreme and defeated the monster. This brought great delight and joy to the people and all the sages blessed Kesari with the boon that he would have a very powerful son who will bring justice whenever there will be injustice in the world. They offered Kesari a very powerful Mantra A group of sacred words chanted in order to gain something, be it materialistic pleasures or peaceful mindof ShivaShivaShiva

Soon, Kesari started doing as he was directed by the sages. He worshipped Shiva with whole heart and devotion, and the deity was very pleased by him. Shiva blessed Kesari and a divine light entered Kesari’s body. After this Kesari felt immense energy inside him and became very radiant. When Kesari returned home, it is believed that he and his wife Anjana She is the mother of Hanuman. She is also an ‘angel’ and a female spirit of clouds and water. She was cursed to come down to earth and live there as a humanbecame one for some time and the divine light got transferred to Anjana’s body. Anjana then gave birth to Hanuman who became one of the mightiest and powerful deities of the world. There are innumerous acts of valor and adventure of Hanuman which have been referenced in various Vedic texts and religious scriptures.

Rituals

On the day of Hanumath Jayanthi, people wake up early in the morning, take bath and wear neat and clean clothes. Devotees and worshippers then visit the nearby temples of Hanuman and offer sesame oil, flowers, fruits, incense sticks and sandalwood to the deity. In some temples, the ritual of Abhishek on the idols of Hanuman is performed with Panchamrit prepared with milk, yogurt, honey, ghee and sugar. Special food items for Prasad It is the sacred food that is distributed after an auspicious event or day after offering it to the Godsare made with jaggery, sesame seed, rice flakes, ghee and sugar and offered to Hanuman and, later distributed among the people. Also, people apply vermilion on idols of Hanuman as it is believed to please Rama, which, in turn, pleases Hanuman. The most fervent devotees of Hanuman observe fast for the whole day. People are supposed to refrain themselves from the activities of worldly pleasures on this day. They are should indulge in meditation and reading religious texts associated with Hanuman like Hanuman Chalisa, It is a Hindu devotional hymn dedicated to Lord Hanuman and consist of 40 verses Sankat Mochan, Sundara Kanda, Bajranga Baan etc.

Beliefs and Significance

It is believed that Hanuman has the highest number of temples of him which are found all over the world. According to Hinduism, the worshippers of Hanuman are always protected from negative energies, demons, demigods, evil spirits and all the misconducts.  He is one of the very few Hindu gods who are immune to the maleficent effects of Shani, who is believed to afflict beings with his vision.
