Kutchi New Year is celebrated on the second day of the Shukla paksha or waxing phase of moon in Ashada month – Ashad Beej or Dwitiya or Ashadhi Beej of Hindu calendar (June – July). This Hindu New Year is celebrated in the Kutch region in Gujarat. Kutchi New Year is celebrated on July 6, 2016. Vikram Samvant 2073 starts from July 6, 2016, in the Kutch region.
The people of Kutch region celebrated this day with the beginning of monsoon season in Kutch, Gujarat. As we know, Kutch is largely a desert area, therefore, people living to appraise rain very much.
