Jayanti is on no moon day in Jyeshtha month that falls in the month (May-June). It is celebrated to mark the birth of God Shani.

Since long time, astrological experts believe that Shani is planet Saturn which is known to have a strong influence upon people.

How people celebrate Shani Jayanti

Shani Jayanti is one of the most important festivals of Shani Shingnapur Shaneshwara temple in Maharashtra. Many religious customs are followed on this day. On the morning of Shani Jayanti, the idol is bathed with Mustard oil, GangaGangaGanga

On this occasion, people across India are known to observe fast in reverence of Shani to ensure that their personal lives as well as their family members lives are protected. They observe fast on this day similar to that of Shanivar Vrat Vrat is the Hindi term of fast . It is a process in which devotees do not consume food or/and water on the days dedicated to the Gods they believe in, to show their dedication and to gain health and prosperityor Saturday Fast.

While observing fast, Brahmins It is one of the caste of Hindus. They are known for their knowledge of ancient, sacred scripturesadvice to chant Shani Mantra A group of sacred words chanted in order to gain something, be it materialistic pleasures or peaceful mind‘Om Sham Shanicharaya Namah’ 23000 times in order to maintain a peaceful and prosperous life as per their expectations. After that they offer special prayers to please Shani and get rid of the ‘Shani Dosha’( ill effects when Shani is not placed properly in the horoscope). Shani Dosha is popularly known as Sade Sati and Dhaiya. It also helps them to protect themselves from the ill effects of the black magic.

It is considered that it is very essential to get free of Shani Dosha before starting a new venture.

It is commonly believed that Shani creates hindrance in one’s growth. Hence, in order to please Shani, these measures can be followed especially on Shani Jayanti and Saturdays:

 

  • Many people wear a horse shoe in their fingers and also hang it in their houses.
  • Message with mustard oil and take a bath before sunrise.
  • Wear black clothes.
  • Visit Shani Temple or HanumanHanumanHanuman
    SRI HANUMAN is worshipped everywhere in India, alone...
    Temple.
  • Not to see directly in the eyes of the idol of shani.
  • Donate Mustard oil & black gram whole (Urad Sabut) in Shani temple.
  • Donate food made in mustard oil especially Bengal gram whole (Kala channa) to the needy.
  • Follow celibacy.
  • Keep silence for at least one hour to have mental peace.



The Shani Jayanti has a lot of importance of its own in the Indian culture. People believe that without worshipping Lord Shani, they would not get rewards of their hard work. By worshipping Shani, they can eliminate all the hurdles and problems in their life and have success all the way.
