STORY OF BHANGARH FORT
Bhangarh was established by the King Bhagwant Das. Bhagwant Das had two sons. Bhagwant Das built this fort for his younger son named Madho Singh, and his elder son's name was Man Singh. Man Singh was the famous general of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. Madho Singh ruled the Bhangarh for his entire life. Bhangarh fort is famous for his ghost stories. It is said that no one is allowed to enter the fort after sunset and before sunrise. There are two major stories behind the mysterious spookiness of the fort.
This story is about a 'SADHU' called Balu Nath who resided in the Fort city. People believe that Balu Nath instructed the King of the palace to not to construct any house high on the premises of the Fort that it may cast it's shadow on his forbidden retreat. Guru Balu Nath said that ‘the moment the shadows of the palace touch me, the city will exist no more.' According to this story, one of the prince of Bhangarh raised the walls, and it restricted the sunlight to Guru Balu Nath and curse comes in play. It is also said that the grave of Balu Nath is nearby the Fort.
According to this story, there was tantric named "Singh". He fell in love with the beautiful Princess Ratnawati of Bhangarh. It is believed that Rani Ratnawati was so beautiful, and when she turned young and became eligible for marriage, there were so many marriage proposals coming for her because of her charming beauty. Tantric Singh was also after the princess and wanted to get her at any cost. Due to his one-sided love towards the princess, he played a trick, once he saw the princess's maid buying some ointment for the Princess, Tantric Singh added magical oil to this ointment to seduce and hypnotize the Princess. However, the Princess saw the Singh trick and poured the oil on the ground. It is said that the oil turned into rock and rolled towards the Tantric and crushed him (Singh). Before dying, the tantric cursed the Bhangarh city to death.
What happens during the night at Bhangarh Fort:
Nearby people experience strange things like they hear strange noises close to the Fort. No one visits this Fort after 6 pm. The government of Rajasthan has also put a notice board saying it is not allowed to visit the Fort before the sunrise and after the sunset. Many people felt some heavy air and a weird feeling, while inside the Fort. Some people also say that if someone spends the whole night in Bhangarh Fort, that person never returns. India is famous for its diverse culture, religion, beliefs and on the other side such ghost stories exists. No one really knows whether these stories are true or not. As per the government authorities, no deaths have been witnessed yet. So it's safe to visit and appreciate the great architecture and beauty of Bhangarh.
