Atri - The Seer
Atri is one of the sons of BrahmaBrahma
According to Hinduism, the whole creation is the work of Trimurti (the Hindu Trinity)... (God of creation) who is believed to have born from his mind. He was a prophet of the fifth book of the Rig Veda (a book of collected Sanskrit hymns). He and his sons compiled many hymns and contributed in completing Rig Veda. His hymns were mostly dedicated to Agni (Goddess of fire) and Indra (God of thunder and lightning). He is also one of the nine Prajapatis, which was a group of Hindu deities who were the in charge of procreation and preservers of life. They were also known as “lord of creatures”. Every son of Brahma died because of a curse given by ShivaShiva

Atri is one of the sons of Brahma (God of creation) who is believed to have born from... rose from the dead. Brahma made a sacrifice and its flames gave a new birth to Atri. He is believed to be one of the stars in Sapta Rishi Mandalam (seven eternal sages depicted in the sky through stars).
Atri was married to Anasuya, a daughter of another Prajapati named Kardama and was a pativrata (Hindi term used for a woman who is chaste and faithful to her husband and follows every command of his). He had many children. Three sons were born in his first life named Soma (the incarnation of Brahma), Datta (the incarnation of Vishnu) and Durvasas (the incarnation of Shiva) and in the second life he had a son named AryamanAryaman
Aryaman ( pronounced as "aryaman"; nominative singular is aryama) is one of the early Vedic deities. His name signifies "bosom friend", "play-fellow" or "companion", one of the early Vedic deities, and a daughter Amala meaning purity.
Soma was prayed to when one needs to overcome any kind of passion. Datta had the power to allow the fructification and continuation of any species. Durvasas was known for his short temper and curses, thus was always kept happy and pleased. The trinity (Brahma, VishnuVishnu
Vishnu is one of the Supreme Gods of Hindus and is a part of Hindu Trinity,.. and Shiva) themselves blessed Anasuya with these three sons. From this family originated the Atri Gotra (clan).
Atri and Mahabharata
Mahabharata is about the fight between Pandavas and Kauravas They were the descendants of Kuru. Duryodhana was considered the most important Kaurava. They were hundred in number and had only one sister named Dushala. They were parented by Gandhari and Dhritarashtra. They fought against the Pandavas in the war of Mahabharata. They also didn’t want the Pandavas to rule and thus also sent them into exile.
who were cousin brothers but fought on the side of Dharma (the righteous path) and Adharma (the path of ill deeds) respectively. Drona was the head of Kaurava army after the demise of earlier head of the army, BhishmaBhishma
In the epic Mahabharata, Bhishma was the eighth son of Kuru King Shantanu, who was blessed with wish-long life and had sworn to serve the ruling Kuru king.... Drona was full of rage and anger and killed thousands of people thus shedding blood of many innocent people. Atri wanted to console him and asked him to give up his arms. Atri made Drona realize his status and position. He told him that he needs to follow the path of righteousness as a true Brahman should and put an end to this meaningless killing. He was a scholar and should apply all this study in his real life.
Drona understood his real worth and decided to choose the path of God. He started meditating and considering Lord Vishnu as the only truth. He kept his anger and jealousy aside, thus giving way to kindness and calmness. He never opened his eyes and left for the God's abode in his meditating position. Atri helped him gain salvation and find the true meaning of life, away from all the trivialities.
