    About Bhuvaneshvari

Bhuvaneshwari - An Aspect of Devi

The name Bhuvaneshwari is a compound of two words, i.e., ‘Bhuvana’ which means the worlds and ‘iswari’ which means Goddess. Therefore she is the Goddess of the three worlds. She is the world mother whose complete body is the cosmos and all the creations are a part of her infinite and eternal being. She is the universal empress or the ruler of the universe whose body shines like a sun and moon ornaments her head as a crown. She is another form of ParvatiParvatiParvati

Bhuvaneshwari is related with the materialistic and visible form of the universe. Through her swollen breasts, the world gets its substance to nurture and to sustain. She is the energy underlying creation but she also destructs the negativity and evil of the world thus making a perfect balance. She is also considered the commander-in-chief of celestial army and provides protection from all evil.

    Legend of Creation

Sages wanted the three worlds to be created and thus they offered Soma to Surya God. He was pleased and thus created three worlds with the power of Shakti. Shakti then assumed a form as Bhuvaneshwari, as to guide and protect the three worlds.

When they saw themselves in the mirror, they were looking like three female attendants who were just taking care of her creation, preservation and destruction. Thus proving that she is the ultimate power and energy on whose command the universe runs. It is considered that none of the nine planets or the Trimurti can stop her from doing what she desires.
