Bhuvaneshwari - An Aspect of Devi
The name Bhuvaneshwari is a compound of two words, i.e., ‘Bhuvana’ which means the worlds and ‘iswari’ which means Goddess. Therefore she is the Goddess of the three worlds. She is the world mother whose complete body is the cosmos and all the creations are a part of her infinite and eternal being. Legend of Creation
Sages wanted the three worlds to be created and thus they offered Soma to Surya God. He was pleased and thus created three worlds with the power of Shakti. Shakti then assumed a form as Bhuvaneshwari, as to guide and protect the three worlds.

Vishnu is one of the Supreme Gods of Hindus and is a part of Hindu Trinity,.. and Shiva as to which one of them was Supreme. Bhuvaneshwari was amused to see them and she took them to her abode. When they saw themselves in the mirror, they were looking like three female attendants who were just taking care of her creation, preservation and destruction. Thus proving that she is the ultimate power and energy on whose command the universe runs. It is considered that none of the nine planets or the Trimurti can stop her from doing what she desires.
Bhuvaneshwari is often depicted with a beautiful face and flowing black hair. Her eyes are wide and her lips are red. She has a beautiful body symbolizing the beauty of her creations. She is decorated with beautiful ornaments. She has a gentle face and a beautiful smile. She is a four-armed Goddess and holds goad in one hand and a noose in another representing her control over evil. She helps her devotees to be free of inner hindrances like lust, jealousy, pride, etc., and enlighten them to gain spirituality. Her other two hands make gestures which are corresponding to boon-giving and fear-removing.
Bhuvaneshwari most important temple, one of the Shaktipeeths, is located in Nainativu (Manipallavam, Sri Lanka). Her various other temples are Cuttack Chandi Temple in Odisha, Sri Bhuvaneshwari Amman temple in (Tamil Nadu), Bhuvaneswari Hindu Temple in Tripura, Sri Bhuvaneshwari temple Siddapur in Karnataka and Chinmaya Bhuvaneswari temple in Kerala.
