Dhana Lakshmi is depicted in red garments and is adorned with gold jewelry and garland made of flowers. She is a six armed goddess who carries weapons like discus, bow and arrow in three of her hands. She holds conch and water pitcher filled with elixir of life in other two hands. The pitcher is usually decorated with mango leaves and a coconut is placed on its top. Her sixth hand is in abhaya mudra which is the gesture used to dispel fear and provide protection and safety. Gold coins also fall from this very hand to provide devotees protection from poverty and uncertainties of life.

Kubera is the God of wealth & is known as Dhanpati ... didn’t mind giving the loan but the deal was that Vishnu was not allowed to leave the face of earth without repaying the loan and its interest. Vishnu agreed to the deal. The couple got married and soon many years passed but Vishnu was unable to repay the money that he had taken. Vishnu started missing his home and soon realized his mistake. He realized the value for money. He acknowledged the power of wealth and soon Dhana Lakshmi blessed him with money. He became indebted to Dhana Lakshmi and thus also came to be known as Daridra Narayana (one who is in debt). It is still believed that whatever amount of money and gold is offered to Vishnu (in the form of Lord Balaji) by his devotees, is used by him to repay his loan to Kubera.
