The planet Mars, for Hindus, is also a reference to God named Mangala... was the son of Lord ShivaShiva
Shiva is one of the Supreme Gods of Hindu Trinity that ... (one of the Supreme Gods of Hindus, also known as the Destroyer). He was meditating on Mouth Kailash when three drops of perspiration formed on his forehead and fell on earth and then handed over to BhumiBhumi
Bhumi is the personification of Mother earth and is considered a form of Goddess Lakshmi... (Hindu Goddess as Mother Earth) and thus he was called Bhauma (son of Bhumi). Mangala then performed penance to his father and was granted the abode of Mangala.
He is believed to have the element of life because he was nurtured by earth. But the irony is that astronomically, this planet is considered to be the cruelest one as people born under the bad influence of this planet can face accidents, robbery, attacks and imprisonments.
He is considered to be the prime commander of all the celestial armies. He is known for his valor, strength and battle skills. He is four-armed and carries a trishula (trident), mace and spear in three of his hands, all the symbols of battles and lotus in the fourth hand, signifying wisdom. He rides a Ram, also symbolizing strength and courage. Shaktidevi is his consort and color red is used to signify Mangala. The element, metal, gemstone, season associated to him are fire, copper, red coral and summer respectively. He governs the South direction and the Tuesdays are attributed to him.
He governs the people born under the sun sign of Aries and Scorpio and they are born ambitious and have a strong character. They have a strong physical drive and exhibit ego and anger. If a person suffers from health issues, debts and poverty, then praying to Mangala can free him from all such issues. Also wearing red can help in deflecting the negative effects of this planet.
People under the bad influence of Mars are called Manglik. Marriages and relationships prove to be disharmonious for them and only one Manglik marries another, it cancels out the negative affect. Praying to Mangala and marrying a banana tree or peepal tree before the actual marriage can prove very beneficial and increase the compatibility between the partners.
Mangala and Karttikeya
Karttikeya is the God of war born with six heads. He was the son of Shiva. He was then raised and nurtured by Krttika (an open star cluster with seven stars in it, also known as the Pleiades). ParvatiParvati
After the death of Shiva's first love Sati, Shiva... (Hindu Goddess of love and fertility, wife of Shiva) was very fond of him and once squeezed Karttikeya so hard with affection that his six heads became one and was left with four hands than twelve. He is armed with bow and arrow and is usually seen riding a peacock. He also defeated a demon monster named Taraka and is usually worshipped in the Southern parts of India.
