Ganesha manifested seventh time in the form of Vighnaraja... and has the big snake as his vehicle. According to Hindu mythology, he had incarnated in this form to overpower the demon Mamasura that literally means the ego.
The interesting Hindu mythological narration of the birth of the Vighnaraja is as follows:
One day ParvatiParvati
After the death of Shiva's first love Sati, Shiva... was chatting with her friends in the relaxed and good-humored mood. During that time Parvati cracked jokes. According to mythological narration, when Parvati was laughing while sharing jokes and out of her laughter one beautiful boy appeared. Parvati was feeling proud that she had given rise to to such a beautiful boy and thus gave him the name ‘Mama’ that is the synonyms of Ego.
Mama then bowed down to seek blessings of Parvati. Mama’s way of showing respect to Parvati pleased her and then advised him to go into the forest for performing severe penance to invoke Vighnaraja for fulfilling his wishes.
As per the advice of Parvati, Mama started his journey towards the forest. During his journey, he met Sambara belong to the demonic world. Sambura tried to lure Mama that he should pray according to the demonic ways. This way Mama with godly nature became the Demon Mamasura. As soon as, he acquired demonic qualities, the greed of conquering all the three worlds inculcated in him.
Finally, he succeeded in his mission and sent all Gods to the exile. Frightened Gods prayed to Vignaraja. He appeared in front of Gods and bless them that he would solve their problems. Thereafter, Vignaraja defeated Mamasura.
Ganesha thus incarnated in the form of Vignaraja to assure his devotees that he would solve all their problems. He also inspires them to follow the right and peaceful path.
