Shri Kedarnathay Namah! One of the 12 major holy shrines of Shivlingas is located at the top of Garhwal (Himalayan range, near Mandakini River) in uttarakhand, India. Here, the one of the supreme holy pilgrimage places is devoted to “Lord Shiva” and it is believed to have been built by Adi Shankaracharya. Moreover, according to the legends, it is believed that the holy temple of Kedarnath was established by the Pandavas. Accordingly, the five holy shrines – Tungnath, Kedarnath, Rudranath, Madmaheshwar and Kalpeshwar are known as the “Punch Kedar”.

However, according to another fairy tale Godess Parvati adored Kedareshwar to amalgamate with Lord Shiva as Ardhnareshwar.

Also, according to one such myth it is believed that the two incarnation of Lord Vishnu (Nar and Narayan) practiced severe atonements and worshipped at Badrikashram in front of the lingam and demanded Lord Shiva to make his lasting domicile at Kedareshwar.
