Kushadhwaja (also known as Kushadbhojan), was a younger brother of Janaka, the father of Sita, the heroine of Ramayan. He ruled the kingdom of Benares. He had two daughters, Mandavi and Shrutakirti who were wedded to BharataBharata
He is also a younger brother of Rama and the son of Kaikeyi. His mother wanted him to be the king of Ayodhya after Dasaratha, thus she forced her husband to put the legal heir to throne, Rama, to exile. Bharat never accepted the throne and waited for his brother to return. He rather placed Rama’s sandals on the throne.
