and hence tied the knot with him one fine day after abandoning the comforts of her luxurious life and went on to live with Lord Shiva in the dense forest.  The royal king DakshaDakshaDaksha

organized a Yajna where every God was invited other than Shiva and Sati. On knowing this, Sati insisted on attending the Yajna despite the denial from Lord Shiva to do so.  The argument aroused between Sati and her father (Daksha), who kept on insulting Lord Shiva as the latter was unhappy with her choice of man. Sati was profoundly embarrassed with her father’s words that pierced her soul and ripped her mind apart. With the help of great yogic powers she bestowed, she decided to set her body on fire and sacrificed her precious soul for her husband setting an example for the unfathomable respect in Hindu women towards their husbands.

The evil practice of Sati is described as a Hindu custom in which a woman burns to death on her husband’s funeral pyre that is based on blind faith and baseless belief of the Hindu community.
