temple is a medieval age cave temple. In this temple, the old idol of the Baba Balak Nath is placed. This temple is one of the popular pilgrimage places of Himachal Pradesh.

This temple is situated at the hills located in the Chakmoh of district Hamirpur. The temple is a natural cave that carved in these hills.  This temple is also known as "Deotsidh". Female devotees are forbidden to enter the inner cave. For them, there is raised platform just opposite to the cave that has been specially erected for female worshippers for Darshan. The term means the vision of the divine Devotees offer Flour Bread "Roti”, prepared with flour and sugar/gur mixed with pure ghee at the altar of Babaji.

Hindus and Punjabis usually visit Baba Balaknath Temple. However, there is no restriction for the people belonging to other religions or caste. During the famous Hindu festivals such as Navratras, lots of visitors throng to the temple. A few kilometers away from the Baba Balaknath Temple, is the Shah Talai connected by a ropeway that is also an important tourist attraction.

There is a place named Shahtalai that is 6kms. away from the temple.  According to the Hindu mythology, Baba Balak Nath had observed severe penance at this place.  This place is considered as the sacred place for the pilgrims. Sunday is considered an auspicious day of Babaji's devotees.

Kartikeya is the son of Shiva and Parvatiand is regarded as the commander- in-chief the army of the gods. Being the son of the supreme couple
. He reincarnates in each Yuga. Yuga in Hindu Religious structure of time. There are four Yugas, and they are Sat Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapra Yuga and Kal Yuga.

He was known as ‘Skanda’ in ‘Sat Yuga’, ‘Kaul’ in ‘Treta Yuga’ and ‘Mahakaul’ and ‘Dvapra Yuga.

Once ‘Mahakaul’ was traveling towards the ‘Kailasha Parvat. He met an old woman on the way. The old lady asked for his mission and destination. After listening to him, she advised ‘Mahakaul’ to meditate on the bank of River Mansarovar and request ParvatiParvatiParvati
