The temple complex consists of the smaller shrines when you pass a popular street of Varanasi called as Vishwanath Gali where the Temple is also located. The lingam of the main deity at the shrine is 60cm long and 90 cm in circumference housed in a silver altar. There is a small legendary weel by the name Jnani Vapi spelled as Gyaani Vapi well which is believed to restore the pious Jyotirlinga from the invaders. It is a belief that the main priest of the Temple jumped into the well with the Jyotirlinga to protect from the invaders. The lingam is made up of a black coloured stone enshrined on the silver sanctum. Noteworthy is the 15.5 m high gold spire and gold dome of the Temple. Each tower is made of pure gold.
