About Moti Doongri Ganesh Temple

The idol of Lord Ganesh ji  is in sitting posture. Trunk of the elephant headed Lord Ganesh ji is towards his left hand which considered very auspicious. According to Hinduism, Lord Ganesh ji rides on Mushak (Rat). A big idol of mushak made of marble is also placed in front of Lord Ganesh ji. The idol is covered with vermillion (Sindoor).  Application of vermillion paste to the idol of any deity is called "Chola". This chola replaces time to time. On special occasions and festivals, milk ablution of Lord Ganesh ji held in the temple. Vermillion chola also get replaced that time.
 

Historical Significance
According to the legends followed by generations, the king of Mavali (Mewar) brought this huge idol of Lord Ganesh ji in a bullock cart.  He decided to build the temple wherever the bullock cart would stop first of all. The cart first stopped near Moti Doongri, where the temple of Lord Ganesh ji is situated at present. Then later, a business man Seth Jai Ram Paliwal assumed the responsibility of constructing the temple based on the inspiration of Mahant (Mahant is the post of chief priest) Shiv Narain ji.

Architecture
The temple is surrounded by the beautiful Moti Dungri palace, which is an imitation of the grand Scottish castle. The temple spans itself in 2 kilometeres and is carved out of stone. Apart from the intricate stone carving, the temple is renowned for it’s intricate lattice work on the marbe with mythological figurines engraved on them serving as a spectacular art of frame for the art lovers. is hidden from the view and timings have been allocated for the visitors to take a glimpse of the feted idol.
 

Rituals and rites
The popular hindu temple resides in the heart of Jaipurites who seek blessings from Lord Ganesha on the advent of a pious event or celebration. Jaipurites commence their day with worshipping Lord Ganesha at Moti Dungri Temple, they invite him as the first guest on any auspicious occasion and ensure the new business, new vehicle, new home, newly born and newly wed couple should seek his blessings and celebrate the joy later. As Lord Ganesha is considered to be the Lord of Mercury, therefore, every Wednesday, thousands of devotees visite here to attend the fair and worship the Ganesha.
